A beloved space can show more than meets the eye.
사랑하는 공간은 보이는 것보다 더 많은 것을 보여줄 수 있다.
Mixed media, 2018
This is my first try on semi-abstract painting. It also concludes a series on my move from the US to the UK. In the series, I tried to record and reconstruct places I love as I left them:
처음으로 반추상화를 시도해 보았다. 이 그림은 미국에서 영국으로의 이사에 관한 시리즈의 마지막 그림이기도 하다. 사랑하는 공간들을 떠나면서 기록하고 재구성해본 시리즈이다:
Cocoon – moving out / 누에고치 – 이사 나오며
Parting / 떠나며
Line 1 Time Machine / 1호선 타임머신
Take Care / 안녕
The dolphin and the background appeared also on my past postings:
돌고래와 배경은 예전 꼭지에 등장한 바 있다:
Dolphin Lamp / 돌고래 램프
Low Lights… / 낮은 빛이…
Out of the Night / 밤으로부터
A beautiful piece!

Thank you! It’s of course embellished, but that’s how I felt.

That’s really good. I love the colours and the imagery.

Thank you, Andy! I’m glad you like it. Initially there were many more colours (yes, not “colors” from now… 😉 but I thought I’d simplify them since the shape are already quite complex.

I like this a lot – not sure why – the flying dolphin? the tree? bird feeders? so many things to think about.
What are you doing in England, if I may ask? Studies?

Thank you – the place evoked rich imagery, which I liked a lot, so I’m glad if the piece is doing something similar. And yes, I am starting as a postdoctoral researcher (the role scientists take after finishing their PhD until getting a permanent position somewhere.)

Thank you! It was the first time for me to try an abstract painting, but I guess I would have retained my ways of approaching the subject from previous ones.
