Statue of Liberty Protesting / 항거하는 자유의 여신상

In the wake of the vulgarity, on the MLK day weekend, it was hard not to see this as the Statue of Liberty protesting.

Three score years after Martin Luther King Jr.’s speech, the urgency seems not to have weathered.

망언 뒤의 마틴 루터 킹 기념일 주말이라, 자유의 여신상이 항거하고 있다고 볼 수밖에 없었다.

마틴 루터 킹 목사의 연설 (비디오, 한글 번역) 반 세기 뒤에, 그 시급성은 닳지 않았다.

Winter Reflections / 겨울에 비추어

Sunlight in winter, landed on the street,
outlines what’s ahead, bleaches the rest;
its gossamer hand
repels inspection, but reaches close.

겨울 햇빛, 거리에 내려와
앞길의 윤곽만 그리고, 나머진 지운다.
섬세한 손
눈길은 밀어내도 가까이 닿는다.
